To create my video for this assignment, I kept things simple by using the cartoon I made in Module 2 and separated each of the panels into frames. I used Adobe Premiere to arrange the frames, add fades, and sound effects. I also added begining and end credits that were created in Fireworks.

Mod 4: Assign 1 - The Animated Gifs

For my first animation, I used a drawing I did then made it look as if he was flying by adding lines behind him that I moved a bit in each frame.

The banner ad was made by using a logo I made for a web series I'm working on, adding text to the top and bottom, then using the animate selection option and changing the transparency from 0 to 100 on the bottom texts.

Mod 3: Assign 3 - Ad Mock Ups
For this layout, my goal was to create a simplistic, easy to navigate web page that meets all the of the clients needs and clearly states its' purpose. I created a logo that customers identify with Century22.com and could potentially attract both the younger and older consumer base.
The idea behind this layout was to appeal to the animal lover, using cute pictures that represent the types of animal supplies sold by this client. The site uses a bright, cheerful color scheme that attracts animal lovers of all ages. The layout is very easy to read and navigate while providing all of the necessary requirements.
The t-shirt uses the eye-catching graphic seen on the Petz123.com home page along with the statement "Image Sources:

Mod 3: Assign 2 - The Graphic Montage

This montage is a reflection of my interest in the surreal and abstract. My favorite types of imagery are those of a surreal nature that have a sense of wonder and mystery about them that inspire a mood and the use of your imagination. While it didn't quite come out as well as I had hoped, I created the montage by using several photos taken from the same angle at the same location, layering them, and erasing around what I wanted to keep to create the illusion of one single image. For example, I took a picture with the TV sitting on a table, then another without the TV or the table. I then layered the image of the TV over the image without and erased the table so that it looked as if the TV was suspended in the air.

Mod 3: Assign - 1 :Colorize or Paint: Creating the Portrait
Our goal was to create while taking the these two statements into consideration:

The second part of the assignment was to selectively add color to a photo. For my second image, I took both statements into consideration.

- "as a culture sophisticates, it deepens its reliance on its images, icons, and symbols- then in its on way-so it defines itself"
- a portrait is an expression of yourself: it can be a city, a child, a nation, or a thought.

The first statement reminded me of superheroes, particularly Batman(especially after seeing The Dark Knight). I took a line drawing of Batman, found here, colored it in on a new layer, then got rid of the background layer, leaving only the black canvas and colored areas to make it look as if he was coming out of the shadows.
The second part of the assignment was to selectively add color to a photo. For my second image, I took both statements into consideration.

Keeping within the Batman/Superhero theme, I used an photo of myself with me girlfriend and used a combination of the paint brush and smudge tool to make it look as if I am wearing Joker face paint(a la The Dark Knight) . I used this image of Heath Ledger as The Joker as reference point. I then added a blueish tint to keep it more in tone with the movie and the "Why so serious?" tagline taken from one of the films posters.

Mod 2: Assign - 6: Create a Cartoon Still Using Fireworks

For this assignment, our goal was to create a black and white cartoon in a standard cartoon frame. I created my cartoon using mostly the paint brush and shape tools. I created new layers for each object and named them accordingly to keep track of my work. To create the shadows, I duplicated the object, blurred it, then changed the transparency.

Mod 2: Assign - 5: Fireworks and The Collage

For my collage, I used pictures of some of my favorite directors. I used linear burn and various tools such as the eraser brush combined with a patterned background that I made to achieve the look I wanted.

Mod 2: Assign - 4: Use the Fireworks drawing tools and make a Map
MOD 2: ASSIGN - 3: Use the Fireworks tools exercise

The purpose of this assignment was to use different tools to manipulate an image and optimize it for posting on the internet. The file size of the jpeg is 29.89kb and the gif is 41kb. Because of it's smaller filesize, the jpeg would download faster than the gif making it the ideal choice for displaying on a webpage.

Mod 1: Assignment 1
My name is Chris Markwardt, this is my first year at HCCC. I took a couple classes in the Fall and just recently matriculated into humanities.
I have many interests but my main passion lies in filmmaking and movies in general. When I'm not watching or making movies, I spend most of my free time with my girlfriend, reading, listing to music, playing video games, etc.
After Herkimer, I intend to transfer to a four year school for film. Right now it isn't much more than a hobby but ideally I would like to my make my living writing and directing films.
